    Hello ladies and gentlemen,

(I use these terms loosely for some you, myself included.)

I am sure you are well aware that the FOX network which owns a controlling interest in the SPEED Channel has signaled that it will be converting SPEED into use for more mainstream stick and ball sports coverage and away from motor sports. Formula 1 will now be on NBC Sports Network for the 2013 season and beyond and your guess is as good as mine how much air time FOX will give to NASCAR, GrandAm, WOO, LeMans, Aussie V8s, etc once the change over is completed.

This means the SPEED.com website is basically a dead man walking. As time goes on there will be less and less motor sports reporting and news available and by default participation in the forums will fall off dramatically. It appears our long love/hate relationship with these boards has run its course.

Several of the long term posters at SPEED.com have come together and looked at our options. NBC Sports’ message boards are a joke so we decided instead of being at their mercy we would establish an independent forum to continue where the SPEED boards left off.

We have named it Motorsports Mayhem.

We have done this at no personal gain for ourselves. No one is making a dime off this site. All the revenue from the ads you will see is going to the forum hosting company Zetaboards.

The Moderation of the boards will be very hands off. If you and a few other posters want to go on debating a subject for pages on end it will be allow. The only rule is no direct personal attacks. You may post any facts, figures and expert opinions to support your side of the debate and/or discredit the opposition but no personal attacks will be tolerated. Keep it professional and everyone will be happy.

Swearing is allowed but we ask you to be prudent in its use. A single swear used for humorous and witty effect is enjoyed by all, but relentless and continued use of such words becomes boring, tiresome and off putting to others. One swear, per poster, per thread, is a good base line. Swearing directly at another poster as an insult will result in an instant ban.

Every morning key people involved will be starting threads on the big news stories of the day. Please feel free to add threads for news that is missed. That is it, please come join us. Just hit the “register” tab at the top left of the main page and you are good to go. Hope to see you there.

    Number 3 - Jim Clark (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/20124557)

"Jimmy was a demi-God," says Jean-Pierre Beltoise. "He was the best driver among us at that time."

Jackie Stewart, remembering a string of races in which he finished second to Clark, says: "We became known as Batman and Robin. And there was no doubt who was Batman and who was Robin."

It is worth taking a little time to appreciate the statistics of Clark's career.

His tally of 25 victories was a record at the time. It has since been surpassed by several other drivers, but none in so few races. Clark's came in just 72 starts, a win ratio surpassed only by Alberto Ascari and Juan Manuel Fangio.

Likewise, his tally of 33 pole positions was recently passed by Red Bull's Sebsatian Vettel, with only Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna ahead. But in percentage terms, Clark is ahead of them all. He was on pole for 45.2% of his races - only Fangio, on 55.8%, did better.
So it's Fangio and Senna in the top 2

anytime there is one of these things it is almost always Senna on top. Perhaps because its a poll of Brits, hamilton will be up there too, but, I really do not see the value in these things. everyone has their fave. I am pretty sure that if you put one driver who dominated an era or a block of years, in a different car things would be different.
Look, vettel not in Red Bull, he is not champ x3(probably at least one, though).
Button, literally backed into the championship, just like Vettel did 2011, the car had toys that the others did not have.
Alonso, is probably the best all-around driver, the Ferrari is better than before but still not best car.
Hamilton is not a good test driver, but excellent racer. he can get out of a car everything and more, just too aggressive.
Webber is not aggressive enough, steady driver, not very flashy though.
Massa, is good, maybe not great, and almost dies in 2009, that has to be accounted for. Looks like he may just be getting back.
The Merc brand is turning into Toyota, throw good money after bad in hopes things change. Jury is out on them, yet. Brawn does not seem to be the trickster like at Ferrari.
Kimi, did not like the Lotus, more suited for Grosjean, he is just super aggressive. Kimi is better than most just not elite
Watch out for Nico Hulkenberg, this cat can drive, just has not had the car under him. The Williams was rubbish, the Force india is no good, he is that good. The Sauber car is not that much better than force india, however, the team is much more stable.

    Hello all,
