    Streaming Sky coverage from Britian

Does anyone have any info on how I could stream Sky coverage for next year. I've found plenty of websites that claim to stream it, but some of them look really dodgy. I have no idea what is legitimate and what is a scam.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You may find there are some significant problems streaming coverage from Sky next year. NBC has been known as a real PitA when it comes to protecting their broadcast rights here in the U.S. And, they have had a lot of practice at it since they carried the Olympics and it was very, very difficult to get a stream even through a proxy.

Difficult yes, but far from impossible.

    Hello all,

FOX is converting the SPEED Channel into a regular sports channel. This means the SPEED.com website is basically a dead man walking and the Motorsports forums are as well. It appears our long love/hate relationship with these boards has run its course.

Several of the long term posters at SPEED.com have come together and looked at our options. NBC Sports’ message boards are a joke so we decided instead of being at their mercy we would establish an independent forum to continue where the SPEED boards left off.

We have named it Motorsports Mayhem.

We have done this at no personal gain for ourselves. No one is making a dime off this site. All the revenue from the ads you will see is going to the forum hosting company Zetaboards.

The Moderation of the boards will be very hands off.

    Hope to see you there.

IMO, the major issue will be that as people find the streams then NBC will be all over the server owners to restrict content transmission or relaying to a U.S. IP address. NBC was very successful in doing this for thee Olympic coverage and now that they know who it will be much easier for them to limit viewing to their services.

It would make a lot of sense for NBCSports to provide a high quality stream of the live race based on a person's subscribing to their NBCSports service on their cable/satellite supplier. I have no problem accessing a program stream on my portable which I connect to my HDTV using an HDMI cable. Yes, there is an occasional break-up but for the most part the quality is pretty good. We'll just have to wait and see how creative NBCSport is going to be or whether they will run around with their head in the sand. (Or someplace else the sun doesn't shine. )

I would often have illegal streams of the Sky F1 broadcasts going on my second screen at work on Friday's this season. I prefer the Speed content during quali and races, though.

NBC did crack down during the Olympics but there were still plenty of streams to be used. When the streams come from other countries, especially those in Europe, NBC can only do so much to limit those streams.

As it was mentioned, the better option is for NBC to offer a high quality stream on their website. An even better strategy is to offer the best stream to discourage people using other, unauthorized streams.

But it really depends on NBC's licensing agreement with the FIA and Bernie.

Ideally, NBCSports would carry all the events in real-time streaming and then do a delayed rebroadcast of the race to promote interest in F-1.
