Just got back from doing some updated recon in the CotA area. Looks great! Saw Alexander Rossi at Wild Bubba's. Any other RACE FRENZ around...? (Anyone? Bueller?)

I'm here...just very disappointed in the basic tone of american reaction on the bulletin boards and places like the austin statesman...it's very very difficult to be a true fan of F1 and be american and read what people have to say about F1...so sick and tired of the diatribe and xenophobia...cant wait to get into the actual race so i can drown that stuff out with actual racing...but im sure robin miller will have something bad to say before the weekend is over...so many american race fans are such pathetic small minded haters I swear...so pathetic...

Track looked amazing - very cool to have onboard feed on my ipad while watching the Speed broadcast on the big screen...looks like turn 19 needs kerbs or something to penalize going wide like that...can't wait to hear official driver reactions to the track...

Hate to break it to you, but the disdain is widespread...its not just a few wackos, and it's downright embarrassing...at least when with get to NBC the flavor of things won't be so damn fox news tea party crazy like it is now...so SICK of the ridiculous xenophobic diatribe...

    Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I am sure you are well aware that the FOX network which owns a controlling interest in the SPEED Channel has signaled that it will be converting SPEED into use for more mainstream stick and ball sports coverage and away from motor sports. Formula 1 will now be on NBC Sports Network for the 2013 season and beyond and your guess is as good as mine how much air time FOX will give to NASCAR, GrandAm, WOO, LeMans, Aussie V8s, etc once the change over is completed.

This means the SPEED.com website is basically a dead man walking. As time goes on there will be less and less motor sports reporting and news available and by default participation in the forums will fall off dramatically. It appears our long love/hate relationship with these boards has run its course.

Several of the long term posters at SPEED.com have come together and looked at our options. NBC Sports’ message boards are a joke so we decided instead of being at their mercy we would establish an independent forum to continue where the SPEED boards left off.

We have named it Motorsports Mayhem.

    http://w11.zetaboards.com/Motorsports_Mayhem/index/

We have done this at no personal gain for ourselves. No one is making a dime off this site. All the revenue from the ads you will see is going to the forum hosting company Zetaboards.

The Moderation of the boards will be very hands off. If you and a few other posters want to go on debating a subject for pages on end it will be allow. The only rule is no direct personal attacks. You may post any facts, figures and expert opinions to support your side of the debate and/or discredit the opposition but no personal attacks will be tolerated. Keep it professional and everyone will be happy.

Swearing is allowed but we ask you to be prudent in its use. A single swear used for humorous and witty effect is enjoyed by all, but relentless and continued use of such words becomes boring, tiresome and off putting to others. One swear, per poster, per thread, is a good base line. Swearing directly at another poster as an insult will result in an instant ban.

Every morning key people involved will be starting threads on the big news stories of the day. Please feel free to add threads for news that is missed. That is it, please come join us. Just hit the “register” tab at the top left of the main page and you are good to go. Hope to see you there.

It seems to me that the tire manufacturer Pirelli has too much control over who wins these races. Why not give the decision on what two grades of tire a team will use in a race to the teams themselves? This would further level the playing feild and add another nuance to team strategy wouldn't it? The teams would choose a combination that would favor their car set-up and design for a better performance which would make the racing even more competitive. Just a thought, what do you think?
