Thumbs up Why is AMA Road Racing listed with Supercross and Motocross ? ? ?

I dont want to start off this tread on a bad foot or in a bad way at all . .I like all motorcycle sports that we can watch on the only station that plays these things ! ! ! But my question is that these are two completely different disciplines (Road Racing and Supercross/Motocross) now there are athletes that have made a transition from the dirt to the road coarse and have done well.

With Speed not doing such a great job or playing any and all Motorcycle racing at a decent time (mostly Road Racing) Why would we put together all if not lost of the Motorcycle sports into ONE category for posting up and blogs . .

Lets be more open and not put all motorcycle racers into just one little box . .

As you can see JL you were underwhelmed by replies. The motorcycle end of things here is deader than a dodo. Over the years speed has made changes that have killed off the motorcycle contributors. Me and a couple of others are the last of the Mohicans here. Shame you got here so late. It was once a very active and lively forum.

Boy, how true. It's pretty obvious to me why this happened. I remember a quote by Rick Miner when SPEED was changing focus to nascar and adding all the support shows to go with it. "Don't worry, we won't become the nascar channel." The disrespect of butting in with a nascar highlights show, before the WSBK or MotoGP race is even over. My DVR can't keep up with the hours-later or even a few day later replay. Here we were, watching the last race of the season and Biaggi taking the championship. Then, victory lane busts in and my DVR doesn't "know" that they'll show the end at a later time. I have quit recording races that are followed by that show, since they've done that many times this year. I have to avoid various web-sites so the ending isn't spoiled, because I'm left to watch the replays on Tuesday so they don't get interrupted. Where else can we watch these races? I think that soon, I'll have to buy the 3 hour DVD's at season's end to able to actually watch the races from MotoGP and WSBK. Very sad. Unfortunately, broadcasting is all about quantity, not quality..or even parity. And with SPEED going to become some sort of Fox Sports channel, I feel it's not going to get better for enthusiasts of 2-wheel racing.

    Hello ladies and gentlemen,

(I use these terms loosely for some you, myself included.)

I am sure you are well aware that the FOX network which owns a controlling interest in the SPEED Channel has signaled that it will be converting SPEED into use for more mainstream stick and ball sports coverage and away from motor sports. Formula 1 will now be on NBC Sports Network for the 2013 season and beyond and your guess is as good as mine how much air time FOX will give to NASCAR, GrandAm, WOO, LeMans, Aussie V8s, etc once the change over is completed.

This means the SPEED.com website is basically a dead man walking. As time goes on there will be less and less motor sports reporting and news available and by default participation in the forums will fall off dramatically. It appears our long love/hate relationship with these boards has run its course.

Several of the long term posters at SPEED.com have come together and looked at our options. NBC Sports’ message boards are a joke so we decided instead of being at their mercy we would establish an independent forum to continue where the SPEED boards left off.

We have named it Motorsports Mayhem.

We have done this at no personal gain for ourselves. No one is making a dime off this site. All the revenue from the ads you will see is going to the forum hosting company Zetaboards.

The Moderation of the boards will be very hands off. If you and a few other posters want to go on debating a subject for pages on end it will be allow. The only rule is no direct personal attacks. You may post any facts, figures and expert opinions to support your side of the debate and/or discredit the opposition but no personal attacks will be tolerated. Keep it professional and everyone will be happy.

Swearing is allowed but we ask you to be prudent in its use. A single swear used for humorous and witty effect is enjoyed by all, but relentless and continued use of such words becomes boring, tiresome and off putting to others. One swear, per poster, per thread, is a good base line. Swearing directly at another poster as an insult will result in an instant ban.

Every morning key people involved will be starting threads on the big news stories of the day. Please feel free to add threads for news that is missed. That is it, please come join us. Just hit the “register” tab at the top left of the main page and you are good to go. Hope to see you there.
