Plainville Stadium was originally known as Tinty's Flying Ranch, for horse shows, circuses and small plane air shows, there is rumor that it was also a horse track. In 1948 it was opened as Plainville Stadium, it was a 1/4 mile dirt track for 1 week but complaints from the fans prompted Owner Joe Tinty to lay down ashpalt. Many great drivers have links to that track, Don McTavish, Pete Hamilton, Denny Zimmerman, Ed Flemke and Ron & Ken Bouchard, Tony Mordino, Billy Greco, Dick Watson, Dave Alkas, Sparky Belmont, Stash Greger, Jap Membrino, Charlie Jarzombek, Lou Carangelo and Reggie Ruggiero just to name a few. The track was closed in 1981. The rising cost of insurance, security and low car draw forced him to close the track. It is true that a group of drivers from Danbury wanted to buy the track and reopen it after Danbury closed but the deal fell through. Joe and Don Tinty held out selling the property to a developer for quite a few years and after Joe Tinty died, his son Don sold the property to a developer from N.Y.

    Hello all,

FOX is converting the SPEED Channel into a regular sports channel. This means the SPEED.com website is basically a dead man walking and the Motorsports forums are as well. It appears our long love/hate relationship with these boards has run its course.

Several of the long term posters at SPEED.com have come together and looked at our options. NBC Sports’ message boards are a joke so we decided instead of being at their mercy we would establish an independent forum to continue where the SPEED boards left off.

We have named it Motorsports Mayhem.

We have done this at no personal gain for ourselves. No one is making a dime off this site. All the revenue from the ads you will see is going to the forum hosting company Zetaboards.

The Moderation of the boards will be very hands off.

    Hope to see you there.
